I’m Claire M., a freelance set and costume designer and scenic painter with experience in both German and Australian theatre.
Since completing my studies at the Victorian College of the Arts, I have worked in Australia and Germany as a freelance scenic artist and designer /design assistant for companies such as the Melbourne Theatre Company, the Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Australian Ballet, and the Bavarian State Opera, as well as many smaller companies. I am fluent in German, and in 2007 worked at the Bavarian State Theatre in the Design Department as well as 2005/2006 in the painting studio at the State Theatre Gärtnerplatz, Munich.
The productions with which I have been involved include, “An Officer and a Gentleman – the Musical”, Disney’s “The Lion King,” The Russian Imperial Ice Stars’ “Nutcracker”, “Sleeping Beauty” and “Swan Lake”, Russian National Ballet’s “Sleeping Beauty” Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera”, the Bavarian State Theatre’s “Endgame”, “Catweazel”, “Marstal Bar”, and “Geliebte Luegner , the Bavarian State Opera’s “Palestrina”, 12th Opera Festival Gut-Immling’s “Cosi fan Tutte” and “Nabucco”, and Theatre Hall 7’s “Im Ausnahmezustand”.
Through my studies and work I have gained in-depth experience with the necessary techniques and skills involved in design and scenic painting (design conception, sketching up, technical drawings and models of stage sets, etc).
In my private practice I have completed large oil commissions, and have also worked with watercolour minatures, which I exhibited at Imaginarius Ebrius Gallery, Munich in 2009.
Ich bin Claire M., Theatermalerin und Bühnenbildnerin, mit Ehrfahrung aus der Arbeit an deutschen und australischen Theatern.
Nach Abschluss meines Studiums am Victorian College of the Arts war ich in Australien und Deutschland als freie Theatermalerin und Bühnenbildnerin/-assistentin, u.a. für die Melbourne Theatre Company, das Melbourne International Arts Festival, dem Australian Ballet, sowie für viele kleinere Bühnen tätig. Natürlich habe ich auch Deutsch gelernt und 2007 am Bayerischen Staatsschauspiel in der Ausstattung gearbeitet sowie 2005/2006 für drei Monate im Malsaal des Staatstheaters am Gärtnerplatz.
Zu den Produktionen bei denen ich mitgewirkt habe gehörten unter anderem „An Officer and a Gentleman – the Musical“, Disney‘s „Der König der Löwen“, The Russian Imperial Ice Stars‘ „Nutcracker“, „Sleeping Beauty“ und „Swan Lake“, Russian National Ballet’s „Sleeping Beauty“, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s „Phantom der Oper“, Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel „Endspiel“, „Catweazel“, „Marstal Bar“, und „Geliebter Lügner“, Bayerische Staatsoper „Palestrina“, 12. Operfestival Gut-Immling „Cosi fan Tutte“ und „Nabucco“, und Theatre Halle 7 „Im Ausnahmezustand“.
Durch mein Studium und meine Arbeit konnte ich tiefe Erfahrungen in denen für Bühnenbild und Theatermalerei erforderliche Techniken sammeln (Design-Konzeptionen, skizzieren, erstellen von technischen Zeichnungen sowie die Konstruktionen der Bühnenbildmodelle).
Im selbstständigen Bereich habe ich Aufträge groβer Ölgemälde abgeschlossen. Auβerdem fertigte ich zahlreiche, postkartengroβe Aquarelle europäischer Landschaften an, welche 2009 in der Imaginarius Ebrius Gallerie München ausgestellt wurden.
